Today on The View, Whoopi Goldberg revealed a kick ass new hair style which she explained was for her role as Mother Abagail on CBS All Access's upcoming adaptation of The Stand.
"So this is, you know I'm doing The Stand for CBS, Stephen King's The Stand. Kudos to ABC who is allowing me to go and do what my first love is. And the woman I'm playing is over a hundred. And so... we may spread, but the hair always looks good."
Goldberg goes on to explain that Mother Abagail is about one hundred and eight, or nine and that when King first wrote the book, people had no idea what older black women looked like.
"So now, we look at an older black woman and you're looking at amazing faces. Structural, beautiful. We do spread. We spread. And we spread well. But this will be my look for the next four months."
Whoopi tells her co-hosts and the audience that she is so proud to be doing The Stand. She also compliments the make up artists who will be aging her as Mother Abagail.
"It's kind of amazing what these guys have done with my face."
What do you guys think of the hair? Are you excited to see Whoopi in full character as Mother Abagail? The 1994 miniseries did an amazing job with Ruby Dee, and with advances in technology and make up, I can't wait to see Whoopi as an 106 year old woman.
